LED Light for my skincare routine

Posted by Mirela Mendoza on

I believe that taking good care of yourself and your skin is a fundamental habit. From a daily routine made to attend the necessities of your skin to dermatologic treatments to obtain a deeper cleanse and prevent problems it's all about finding the balance to look and feel healthier.

With every new improvement of technology, it's easier to get a dermatologist or facialist’s salon treatment at the comfort of your home. One of my latest favorites is the LED light-therapy mask: an amazing way to reduce inflammation, acne, wrinkles, and discoloration at depths that topical products simply can’t. This kind of treatment is really effective when you are constant, meaning that to see long-term benefits you had to make regular appointments at your dermatologist office, but now it's a lot easier when you can do it at home!

How does LED Light work?

LED light therapy involves exposing the skin to different wavelengths of light, triggering changes within the skin at a molecular level. This light is absorbed by receptors in the skin, just like topical skincare, and each color of light stimulates a different response in the skin. LED is suitable for use on all skin types and tones, as the spectrum of light used does not include UV there's no risk of damage and you won't get a tan.

Benefits of LED Light for the Skin

  • Red LED Light stimulates collagen production deep within the skin. At the lighter end of the spectrum, red light works to soothe inflammation and redness, while deeper shades penetrate the skin further to prompt cellular repair and circulation, resulting in a plumper, more vibrant skin.
  • Blue LED Light is antibacterial, it's used to kill the bacteria that causes breakouts, making it ideal for treating acne-prone skin. Blue light also helps purify the skin and regulate oil glands.

    My LED Light Mask: :

Dr. Dennis Gross DRx SpectraLite ™ FaceWare Pro

It's a medical-grade and hands-free mask that works in just three minutes to give your skin a boost. It has 100 red LED lights and 62 blue LED lights, covering the two main concerns when using a LED Light Mask: fading wrinkles and fighting bacteria. It's dermatological tested and has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

EThis mask comes in settings of three minutes, so I include it in my routine on a weekly basis using 3 minutes of red light, 3 minutes of blue light, and I finish with a setting that combines both in a purple light, for 3 more minutes.

Great results often come from discipline and nurturing your body at every level, so you need a good skincare regimen to obtain the top benefits of light therapy. I love pairing mine with potent products, like Dr. Dennis Gross C + Collagen Brighten & Firm Vitamin C Serum, it has made a noticeable difference in the look and feel of my skin.
