The best allies for my meal plan
Posted by Mirela Mendoza on
On 2020 your goal was to eat healthier; workout more or simply drop a few pounds from December... But January is coming to and end and you realize that a busy routine, stress and lack of planning are making it harder to stick to New Year resolutions. It's ok! I've been traveling for work and it's hard for me too, but I'm back home and ready to get back into a healthy routine!
I don’t believe in “secret diets”, but I rather think about healthy choices that help me feel good. That's why today I want to share my best tips to keep on the healthy track and my favorite allies to achieve this goal!
Plan your meals
Plan your breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks for the week, it will help you get organized and you'll save a lot of time in the kitchen if you make some meals in advance. Need a little extra help with this? Subscribe to my Newsletter and get my personal meal plan!
Don't skip breakfast
If you wake up late or have a busy day, you may think it's ok to skip breakfast. It's not! You need a high-protein meal to start your day, or else you are going to miss out on essential nutrients and end up snacking because you feel hungry. Plan your breakfast the night before or even better, a week in advance with my meal plan.
Eat at regular times
Eating at regular times during the day will help you adapt to a routine and reduces the temptation to snack on foods high in fat and sugar. I try to carry my lunchbox and stick to the hours of my plan to avoid eating out and skipping a meal:
Read food labels
Knowing how to read food labels can help you choose healthier options. Usually, the ingredients are listed in order of predominance, with those used in the greatest amount first. Read carefully and choose healthier, vegan and low sugar options.
Drink plenty of water and get a good night's sleep.
Did you know we often confuse thirst with hunger? I always say that beauty starts from the inside, the base of a healthier life is staying well hydrated and getting quality sleep to allow your body to rest.
Add quality supplements
A healthy diet with tons of fruit and veg is the best way to hit all the key vitamin and mineral groups in abundance, but sometimes, I need a little help. Check out my favorite supplements for boosting the metabolism, lowering stress and helping my skin
· BCAA's are ideal for recovery after a workout. They help increase muscle mass, prevent muscle breakdown and lose fat.
· 7-keto-DHEA is used to strengthen muscles, increase the activity of the thyroid gland, boost the immune system, improve memory and retard aging.
· El Magnesium is an important mineral, necessary for general health. The benefits of this supplement range from fighting inflammation and lowering blood pressure to improving sleep.
These are some of my favorite products and they have worked for me and my metabolism. My recommendation is that you always study your body's needs, research what are the best options for you and consult your head physician.
